Breaches of research integrity are not only about fraud, but also about questionable research practices, such as violations of basic scientific principles. A crisis in science becomes obvious: only 10 to 40 percent of published research can be replicated. Selective publications cause serious harm to science by distorting the publicly available evidence.
Lex Bouter, professor in Methodology and Integrity at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, runs a NWO project on stimulating responsible research practices, and will share his view on this grey area ranging from good research practice to deliberate fraud at the FederaDag.
